theallseeing (Nathan Enkel)

Nathan Enkel: D&C member, falcon thrower, avian aficianado, Planeswalker, printmaker. I've been watching his drawing change and develop for as long as I've known him. The way his style morphs over time and yet continues to carry certain trademark elements is something I find pretty neat to observe. I suppose that's true of most artists, but still, for me, observing his journey is a treat. He posted this new drawing of what he's been up to yesterday and I figured I'd share it. Click through for a link to his flickr with more of his art.

A Confession Letter (Sterling Healey)

Sterling Healey (he's not really using that anymore) asked me if I was still doing this blog the other day and told me he had something to submit. It was supposed to be for a zine that he was doing that never panned out. Check out his ALL MY FRIENDS GREW UP zine (probably unlikely if you don't have one already). The piece speaks for itself. I'm posting it at the full size, scroll along and read the whole thing.

I'm stoked to have someone submit something to be posted. If you're a friend I probably consider you a part of what I conceptualize to be Destroyers & Creators and I'd love to put your work up so shoot me a message.

Nuit Blanche

A few weeks back, I biked around the city for Nuit Blanche. Aside from going to a peculiar Open House, there wasn't really much to see or many things which piqued our interest. Usually, the people I go with to Nuit Blanche and I are interested primarily in finding the weirder/more bizarre stuff which oversteps the typical projections and installations that litter NB. We look for the odd experiences that only Nuit Blanche affords, ie Walking through a hallway of people masked in giant paper bags who bumped into you and apologized (it was way cooler than that description makes it sound) or people in mascot suits preforming for the duration of the night, among other things. Part of it probably links to our collective inability and disinterest in standing in line for long periods of time just to be let down. It seems like it was organized haphazardly this year. The addition of blocking off streets was nice but it was useless. Yonge was blocked off from Bloor to Front but when we rode down North to South we didn't see any pieces/performances/etc until getting South of Queen street. It was a really inefficient use of space. Here were the two things we saw worth capturing:

There will be a new contribution from a friend in coming days and I'm probably going to (Swedish) chef something up for Braden Rosner at Songs & Cigarettes International
